The Jordan government launched the adoption of electronic invoices in 2021. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship (MDEE) has published a plan which gives details about the needs of the e-Invoicing system through its Request for Proposal (RFP) document.
In this way, Jordan aims to create a national e-Invoicing solution that facilitates the collection of information and the transparency of transactions with the tax administration. The Income and Sales Tax Department (ISTD) is the key actor that mandates the issuance of electronic invoices to taxpayers who must issue invoices. B2B e-Invoices (business to business) became mandatory for only resident taxpayers.
